Sultanate of Oman: The assassination of Haniyeh is a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law

Muscat,(ST)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman affirmed that the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas Ismail Haniyeh undermines efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region, and is a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law.

The ministry stressed in a statement the Sultanate’s firm position on rejecting all forms of terrorism, regardless of its motives and causes, as well as  on rejecting all violations of the sovereignty and sanctities of states.

The Omani Foreign Ministry called on the international community to intervene urgently to punish the perpetrators of these crimes and political assassinations and to take immediate action to stop the Israeli aggression and the illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories and the policy of killing, extremism and abuse practiced against the defenseless Palestinian people.
