Minister of Health discusses ways to enhance cooperation with the Global Vaccine Alliance

The Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabbash, discussed with a working team from the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), ways to enhance cooperation regarding vaccines and to ensure that epidemics do not spread.
During the meeting held today at the Ministry of Health, Al-Ghabbash stressed the importance of continuous coordination with international organizations regarding the vaccine and its security, explaining the challenges facing the health sector in light of the unjust siege imposed on the Syrian people, in addition to the health risks looming in the world.
Al-Ghabbash stated that the national vaccine program achieved positive results in reducing dangerous childhood diseases, praising the spirit of cooperation and work with the alliance team to deliver vaccines to those who deserve them in a timely manner and throughout the entire Syrian geography.
In turn, GAVI’s Country Director in Syria Veronique Meva Vags affirmed that Syria is one of the first countries to successfully implement the vaccine program, especially in the recent comprehensive national vaccine campaign that is taking place in various governorates, noting that health sector workers in Syria are making great efforts despite the difficult circumstances and challenges.
Vags pointed out the need to exchange experiences with the ministry’s team in the field of vaccine campaigns, as it has achieved great achievements in this field and GAVI can benefit from the Syrian experience in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
