Sources to RT: Core purpose of President Al-Assad’s visit to Russia is to discuss political and military developments in the Middle East

Private sources explained that the core purpose of the working visit paid by President Bashar Al-Assad to Russia, during which he met with President Vladimir Putin, was to hold in-depth talks into the political and military developments taking place in the Middle East and to exchange views regarding joint dealing with these developments, according to RT TV channel.
Sources close to the meeting between the two Presidents stated that the discussions carried complete agreement regarding the description of the existing risks on the one hand, and regarding the expectations and future possibilities on the other hand.
The sources pointed out that the discussions between Presidents Al-Assad and Putin included a personal aspect related to the friendship between the two leaders as they showed that more than a year had passed since their previous meeting and that this period was long compared to the relationship between them.
The sources explained that President Al-Assad’s visit could be described as a surprise visit, but it was a very practical one, indicating that the subject of the possible meeting between President al-Assad and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan was not discussed, and that President Putin did not ask President Al-Assad to meet with Erdogan.
The sources said: The Russian President is fully informed in advance, through his special envoy, Alexander Lavrentiev, of President Al-Assad’s position regarding the relationship with Turkey, which must be based on foundations and references regarding the Turkish withdrawal from Syrian territory, as well as about combating all terrorist organizations in northern Syria.
The sources spoke of advanced trends in economic relations between Syria and Russia that President Putin desires, and perhaps he wants them to rise to the level of political and military relations.
President Al-Assad paid a working visit to Russia during which he met with President Putin and discussed with him all aspects of relations between the two countries, the situation in the Middle East region and the rapid developments the ME is experiencing, and aspects of joint coordination to deal with these developments.
