20 different medals for the Syrian judo team in the West Asian Championship

Amman, (ST) –  The Syrian team that participated in the West Asian Judo Championship, recently concluded its competitions in the Jordanian capital, Amman, won 20 different medals.

In the details, Omar Al-Shahada won the gold medal in the 73 kg weight, Ahmed Al-Qaed won the silver medal in the 81 kg weight, Majd Haj Qaddour won the silver medal in the 90 kg weight, Mohammad Hilal won the silver medal in the 66 kg weight, and Yassin Saleh won the bronze medal in the 55 kg weight, in the youth category.

In the junior category, Qusay Batman won the gold medal in the 50 kg weight, Mahdi Ramadan won the gold medal in the 55 kg weight, Ahmed Zidane won the silver medal in the 50 kg weight, Jawad Masoud won the silver medal in the 60 kg weight, Raed Al-Rahwan won the bronze medal in the 60 kg weight, and Karam Allah Shakra won the bronze medal in the 66 kg weight.

As for the juniors category, the Syrian players Malak Al Shaer won the gold medal in the 44 kg weight category, Reem Bazzara won the gold medal in the 48 kg weight, Rayan Qarqjia won the gold medal in the 57 kg weight category, Sandra Obaid won the gold medal in the 63 kg weight, and Shahad Al Saad won the silver medal in the over 70 kg weight category.

In the femal youth category, Laila Kanaan won the gold medal in the 52 kg weight category, and Farah Al Qantar won the silver medal in the 70 kg weight category.

In the Kata competitions, Raed Al Rahwan and Sandra Obaid won two gold medals.

Nine countries participated in the championship, in addition to Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

In the same context, the General Sports Federation honored today the players who won medals in the aforementioned championship, and urged them to exert more effort to achieve good results in the upcoming championships.

Judo Syrian player Reem Bazara: West Asia gold medal has motivated me to win more shiny medals

Commenting on her achievement Bazzara said that her joy was great after winning the gold medal in the West Asia Championship, which motivated her to continue training and developing her technical and physical level to achieve more advanced results in upcoming championships and raise the Syrian flag in Arab and international forums.

 Player Bazzara was born in 2008. She started practicing judo at the Al-Jaish Al-Saheli Club last year under the supervision of coach Mohammad Ammar and with passage of time she mastered the movements of the game and its basic principles and won a gold medal in her first participation when she won first place in the junior category in the 44 kg within the West Asian Judo Championship.
