Al-Mikdad expresses condolences to his Omani counterpart over victims of shooting incident in Muscat

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad on Tuesday sent a cable of condolences to his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi over victims of the shooting incident that took place in Muscat and that claimed the lives of a number of people and injured several others.

Al-Mikdad stressed Syria’s condemnation of this savage attack, wishing the injured speedy recovery and wishing Oman continuous stability and security which have charactetized the lives of the Omanis over the past years.

The Omani News Agency reported that a shooting incident occurred last night, Monday, in the Wadi Al Kabir area of Muscat Governorate.

The incident resulted in the deaths of five people, the martyrdom of a police officer, and the killing of the three perpetrators, in addition to the injury of 28 people of different nationalities, the Agency said.

Among the injured were four individuals, including policemen and Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority’s personnel, who were performing their national duty.

Investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
