SWEIDA, (ST)- Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Sunday inspected the performance of government economic and development sectors in Sweida province.
He laid the foundation stone of the (SYP) 300 million-valued industrial zone project in Um Azzaitoun area, opened Sala National Hospital, valued at (SYP) 3 billion, and inspected the executive phases of the youth housing project which aims to build 840 apartments at a cost of (SYP) 1.5 billion as a preliminary step.
Under the premier’s instructions, some (SYP) 750 million are to be earmarked to supporting the independent budget, the administrative units and several services projects.
In a statement to journalists, al-Halqi said his visit to Sweida came within the framework of President Bashar Al- Assad’s directives to get constructive and effective communication with people of the governorate and to lay the foundation stones of a number of vital projects.
Al-Halqi also had the opportunity to meet economic and social figures in Sweida governorate. He affirmed that “despite the unjust economic war on national economy, the government has been able to enhance the abilities of the Syrian economy through ensuring supply and food stuff as well as oil derivatives and through improving the performance of the health and administrative sectors.”
He also asserted the government’s keenness to provide the agricultural sector with all equipments necessary to enhance production.
