Syria praises Chinese President’s vision of principles of peaceful coexistence

Syria praised the far-sighted vision on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence renewed by the Chinese President Xi Jinping in his speech on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the declaration of those lofty principles launched by China, India and Myanmar in 1954.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement today: “These principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-aggression, non-interference in internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence, formed the basics of  historical friendship relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the People’s Republic of China, and it was an embodiment of the friendly and cooperation relations that linked the people of the two countries over the years. Today  these relations were crowned by the wise principled vision of President Bashar Al-Assad and President Xi Jinping which would play pivotal role in developing the relations of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.”

The Ministry noted that while these principles prove their validity for all times and places, and constitute a platform of action for countries that love peace, stability and cooperation and those that believe in the rule of international law and respect for international legitimacy, the forces of global hegemony and colonial arrogance continue to ignore these principles and work to undermine them.

The Foreign Ministry expressed Syria’s firm belief that these principles will contribute to the world’s direction towards peace, development, cooperation and common benefit, reiterating its support for what these principles aim to achieve in building a common future for humanity.
