Aleppo Education Directorate Completes  Restoration Of 316 Schools Damaged By  Earthquake

Aleppo-(ST)- The Aleppo Education Directorate completed the rehabilitation and maintenance works of 316 schools that were damaged as a result of the earthquake disaster in February of last year.

The Director of Education in Aleppo Mustafa Abdel Ghani explained in a statement to SANA that the number of schools damaged by the earthquake reached 1,019 schools in the city of Aleppo and its countryside, and this is being done in cooperation with the Directorate of Technical Services in Aleppo, explaining that the maintenance of 349 damaged schools has been evaluated and approved, while 30 schools have been placed within the next maintenance plan.

Abdul-Ghani added: The number of schools in service in the city of Aleppo and its countryside reaches 1,881 schools, including more than 600,000 male and female students.

For his part, Firas Al-Ali, head of the Department of Planning and International Cooperation in Education in Aleppo, explained that the damage to these schools ranged from light to moderate, stressing the directorate’s keenness to speed up restoration work to attract students, address the problem of class density and achieve quality education.
