Mansour calls on International Community to end genocidal war and Israeli occupation

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, has called on the international community to put an end to the genocidal war and the racist Israeli settler occupation, according to the WAFA News Agency.

The agency reported today that Mansour had called on the Security Council, the Human Rights Council, and the International Courts of Justice and Criminal Courts to assume their responsibilities and fulfill their obligations to protect the Palestinian people.

“In three identical letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Presidents of the Security Council and the General Assembly, Mansour clarified that the disastrous effects of the occupation’s ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since the 7th  of last October led to the martyrdom of more than 38,193 Palestinians and the injury of more than 87,903, while the occupation’s attacks on the West Bank resulted in the death of 571 and the injury of 5,420 Palestinians” the agency said.

He stressed that the shocking losses will continue to rise in the absence of a ceasefire for which both the General Assembly and the Security Council called.

Mansour stated that the international community failed to take action to hold “Israel” accountable and punish it for its crimes, even after it was included in the list of countries that violate children’s rights in the annual United Nations report on children and armed conflict.

He also pointed out the continued failure of the Security Council to work to enforce its decisions and hold “Israel” accountable for its violations, as well as countries continuing to transfer weapons and ammunition to it and protecting its officials from accountability for its crimes, including attempts to obstruct the International Criminal Court.

Mansour pointed out that the occupation’s expansion of settlement operations and its continued implementation of colonial annexation plans, including the recently revealed plan to seize 12.7 square kilometers south of the city of Nablus in the West Bank, reflects the occupation’s complete contempt for the international community, which continues to demand a halt to settlement activity throughout the occupied Palestinian territories.
