Syria, UN discuss increasing support for service sector in Hasakah governorate

Hasakah (ST) – The Governor of Hasakah Louay Sayouh discussed with the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Development and Humanitarian activities in Syria Adam Abdul Mawla and a number of directors of offices of international organizations working in the governorate, increasing the support provided to the service sectors to alleviate the suffering of citizens.

During the meeting, held in the governorate building today, Sayouh indicated the continuation of cooperation with the offices of international organizations, and the provision of all facilities to implement their projects in the required manner, ensuring access to the most needy groups and alleviating their suffering.

Sayouh reviewed the urgent needs of Hasakah Governorate, most notably drinking water that caused suffering for the people, in the light of the Turkish occupation continuing to cut off drinking water for a million citizens.

In turn, Abdul Mawla stressed that the aim of the visit is to assess the need in the governorate and increase intervention through development and relief projects.

For his part, the Director of Hasakah Water Establiahment Muhammad Al-Othman, pointed to the necessity of increasing pressure from international organizations to restart the Alouk Water Station, as it is the only solution for drinking water in the governorate.
