The Second Round of the Iranian Presidential Elections Begins in All of Iran and Abroad

The voting process in the second round of the 14th Iranian presidential election began this morning in all of Iran and abroad.

Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced at a press conference today the launch of the second round of elections at eight o’clock in the morning Tehran time, in which candidates Saeed Jalili and Masoud Bazshakian are competing.

After casting his vote at Imam Khomeini’s Hosseiniyeh in Tehran, the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ali Khamenei, said: “in the second stage of the elections… Citizens should be more motivated to finish the job, and tomorrow we will have a president of the country.”

“I have heard that people are more enthusiastic and interested today than before, and we hope that they will vote and choose the best,” he added.

Iranian voters have arrived early at polling stations to cast their votes in the second and decisive round of the presidential election.

According to Article 36 of the presidential election law, all persons who have Iranian citizenship and are at least 18 years old can participate in the said elections by presenting citizenship or national ID.

The first round of the elections was held last Friday among four candidates, but none of them received an absolute majority, so the elections went to a second round between the two candidates who received the most votes, Bazshakian with 10, 415, 991 votes, and Jalili with 9, 473, 298 votes.
