Al-Munajjid, Head of UN High Commissioner for Refugees mission in Damascus discuss strengthening cooperation

The minister of Social Affair and Labor, Louay Al-Munajjid, discussed yesterday with the head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Damascus Gonzalo Vargas Llosa and the accompanying delegation the cooperation relations in many areas of common interest.

The meeting focused on the importance of supporting Syrians returning from neighboring countries, by contributing to the rehabilitation of the infrastructure necessary for their return to their regions.

Minister Al Munajjid stressed the need to expand this cooperation to include many areas related to supporting income-generating livelihood projects in villages and supporting the community centers in a way that achieve more effective access to these services.

He called on the Commission to expand the scope of cooperation with local non-governmental organizations, which will be of greater benefit to all beneficiaries.

For his part, the head of the Commission’s mission confirmed that the social affairs sector is one of the priority sectors in the Commission’s work, pointing to the facilitation provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the various governorates.
