Iran is committed to help in finding a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Saturday, IRNA reported.
The foreign minister made the remarks here at a joint press conference with his visiting Greek counterpart Evangelos Venizelos.
“Iran is open to all international mediators including the UN-Arab League Joint Special Representative for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi.”
He noted that “Iran is ready to help find a solution to the crisis in Syria through political tools and believes that only Syrian people themselves should decide their future.”
Brahimi is scheduled to arrive at Tehran on Sunday for an official 3-day visit. He will discuss latest developments concerning the crisis in Syria with Iranian officials.

Meanwhile, Zarif said that the US has to face the realities once for ever.

He made the statement in reaction to the recent remarks of some US officials who had asked Iran to make a serious decision to win West’s confidence, according to IRNA.
Zarif reiterated that Iran, based on its religious teachings and strategic concerns, had never been seeking nuclear arms in the past and is not going to do so in the future either.
Athens urges removal of anti-Iran sanctions – Greek FM
Talking in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif here on Saturday, the Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos said his country supports the full conclusion of Iran-5+1 nuclear talks and underlines the need to lift anti-Iran sanctions.
he said his talks with Zarif focused on Iran’s nuclear program.
He said facilitating implementation mechanisms of temporary agreement is a prelude to a final comprehensive deal.
Pointing to the rotating presidency of his country in the European Union, he said Athens is seeking ways to boost ties with Tehran.
He further described his meeting with Zarif as a good chance to exchange views on regional and international issues, while Zarif described the visit of his Greek counterpart to Iran as the opening of a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.
