Arab and Kurdish cultures forum held in Iraq

With the participation of the President of Arab Writers Union in Syria, Dr. Muhammad Al-Hourani, and the presence of Iraqi, Arab, and foreign politicians, academics and intellectuals figures, the activities of the Araba-Kurdish Cultural Center Conference were held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad under the title “ The Arab and Kurdish Cultures Forum” .
The event aimed to deepening dialogue and strengthening belonging among the components of the peoples of the region.
The participants in the forum stressed that the language of culture is the language that unites the people of the homeland and can achieve what other things can’t achieve.
They noted the need for work and concerted efforts to enhance cultural, historical and heritage commonalities, and to develop them in a way that serves all the people of the region.
The participants touched on the important roles played by intellectuals from all components and their contribution to enriching Arab culture and arts, pointing to the need to benefit from historical experiences and appreciate the important roles played by cultural figures and other fields of knowledge.
The forum included dialogue sessions on the role of Arab and Kurdish cultures in promoting national belonging, important figures and their influence in producing a national human culture as well as the role of legislative, executive and judicial institutions in developing this culture.
Dr. Al-Hourani noted the importance of what President Bashar Al-Assad proposed regarding “civilized Arabism.”
On the sidelines of the forum, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met with Al-Hourani and stressed the depth of Syrian-Iraqi relations and the importance of the role of culture in building bridges of cooperation and knowledge between the peoples of the region and overcoming the differences that political factors may create.
Al-Hourani presented an honorary shield on behalf of the Arab Writers Union in Syria to the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and an honorary shield to Dr. Khadija Hassan Jassim, Director of the Social Studies Department at the House of Wisdom, in appreciation of her efforts in strengthening cooperation between the Arab Writers Union and the House of Wisdom Foundation in Iraq, which will culminate in a scientific conference due to be held with the participation of the writers Union in Syria before the end of this year.
