44th International Flower Fair opens in Damascus

The activities of the 44th International Flower Fair which is organized by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Damascus Governorate was launched atTishreen Park in Damascus  last Wednesday

A number of local and international companies that cultivate  flowers, ornamental plants, medicinal and aromatic plants, garden landscaping and their supplies, are participating in the fair.

In addition to shops selling and arranging flowers, beekeepers, producers of beehive supplies, traditional crafts, small family projects, and a number of cultural events, including open-air theatrical performances.

Also craftsmen of Dummar central incubator are participating in the fair. Mrs. Najwa Al-Sharif who always participates in the fair is  displaying glass mosaic hand products accessories.

“I added glass mosaics on accessories, glasses, plates that we use daily in order to preserve our local rich heritage.Our aim as craftsmen is to revive this craft to protect it from extinction” Najwa said.

“I display in this fair plates, cups, jars, tables, and accessories, bracelets. The importance of participation is to introduce people to the types of mosaics, communicate with craftsmen, and gain experience” she added.

Sirin Mallas another participant, displays handmade products from recycling fabrics

“I used recycled fabrics to make new ideas from them as accessories and hair clips. I always participate in this fair. I participate here to market my new products ” she said.

For her part Malak Shaabo, displays crochet dolls. She is  participating  in this event for the first time to familiarize  people  with her handmade products.

Abudulla is  participating in the international Flowers fair for the second time in order  to revive the Palestinian heritage .He displays embroidery ,wood carvings and beadsworks using needle and thread,. He aims from his participation is  to make people acquainted with the Palestinian folklore.

Christina, another participant displayed handmade gypsum products .She is  participating in the Fair for the second time to market  and  introduce people to her products.

Ayda Sulimam Al-Nabi, a craftswomen at Dummar Central incubator displays handmade accessories and copper engraving on  paintings.She has  participated in this event several times.
