DAMASCUS, Beijing,(ST)_ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad stressed that the Russian policy which consistent with international law and the UN Charter restored security and stability to world countries.
Meeting today with a delegation representing the Parliament Russian city of St. Petersburg, Mikdad noted that the Russian policy contributed to re-balancing the world of today by ending unilateral policies pursued by the colonial powers in the region and the world.
He continued that the Syrian people are the only owner of the right to choose their political system and elect their representatives and that through the ballot boxes, which represent a nightmare for US and Western related agenda opposition, the Syrian people will decide their future.
For his part, head of the delegation Alexei Vurientsov said that the Russian unwavering position towards Syria reflects the position of the Russian state, parliament, people’s organizations and the Russian people as a whole.
Member of the delegation Andre Alexeih stressed that national reconciliation sponsored by the government reveals that this process should be followed by other countries as a successful experiment that deserves appreciation.
Earlier in the day, Miqdad conferred with the delegation of the Palestine Liberation Organization PLO Executive Committee led by Labor minister Ahmad al-Majdalani.
Talks dealt with the situation on the Palestinian arena and the suffering of al- Yarmouk camp refugees in Damascus after its re-occupation by the armed terrorist groups.
He pointed out that terrorists thwarted reconciliation achieved in camp a few days before, came at direct orders from countries supporting those terrorists, especially the US, Saudi Arabia, France and Israel, stressing that the Syrian government will spare no efforts to secure the needs of Palestinians in al- Yarmouk refugee camp and other camps in Syria.
He held terrorist organizations and their Arab and world supporters responsible for the tragic situation in the Palestinian refugee camps in Syria, including the Yarmouk refugee camp, noting Syria ‘s continued support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to liberate their lands from the Israeli occupation and establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Dr. Miqdad highly appreciated the position of the Palestinian people inside and outside the occupied territories in support of Syria’s steadfastness against terrorism, backed by some Arab Gulf regimes, Israel and Western countries.
For his part, Dr. Majdalani spoke about latest developments on the Palestinian arena.
He held Israel responsible for the stalled peace talks due to its continued occupation of Palestinian lands and its attempt to expel the Palestinians from the territories occupied in 1948 under the title of declaring it a “Jewish state.”
He confirmed the solid position of the Palestinian leadership and all Palestinian factions towards the situation in the refugee camp of Yarmouk, provided for the withdrawal of the armed terrorist groups from the camp to allow the deployment of humanitarian aid to its people.
