The voting process for the 14th Iranian presidential election has started nationwide and abroad

The voting process for the Fourteenth Iranian presidential election began this morning at polling stations across the country and abroad.

During his vote in Imam Khomeini’s Hosseiniyeh in Tehran, the leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Mr. Ali al-Khamenei, stressed that the Election Day is the day of activity and enthusiasm in the country, especially since it is the presidential election, stressing that the most fit and competent person to run the country will be elected.

The country’s Election Commission said in a statement that, based on Article 36 of the presidential elections law, all persons who hold Iranian citizenship and are at least 18 years old can participate in the said elections by presenting citizenship or national ID.

“Iranian voters residing abroad who do not have the above-mentioned identity documents can vote by showing their valid passports,” it added.

The secretary of the country’s Election Commission , Mohsen Islami announced that the number of polling stations is 58,640, including 34,522 in cities and 24,118 in villages and rural areas, while the number of polling stations abroad is 340 centers in more than 95 countries.

 The number of fixed polling stations is 43,425, while the number of mobile polling stations is 15,215.

He explained that more than 61 million and 452 thousand have the right to vote.

The polling process lasts for ten hours until six in the evening, extendable.

Earlier this morning, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced the start of the voting process in the 14th session of the Iranian presidential elections throughout the country, and in Iranian embassies and consulates abroad.

According to the timing adopted in the countries, the voting process for Iranian nationals residing in New Zealand has started to include successively all Iranian embassies and consulates abroad.

In Syria, polling stations were opened for Iranian nationals present there to participate in the Iranian presidential elections, in the Centers accredited by the Iranian Embassy in several provinces.

Four candidates, Said Jalili, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Mustafa Pur Mohammadi and Masoud Bazhakyan, are competing in the elections, after Alireza Zakani and Amir Hossein Qazizadeh Hashemi announced their withdrawal from the presidential race.
