UN Palestinian and Russian Representatives urge  immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip

The Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations UN , Riyad Mansour, affirmed that the Israeli occupation entity has been practicing persecution and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people for 57 years and is now subjecting this people to genocide.

He called on the international community to take immediate action to stop the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Mansour pointed out that the escalating settler attacks against the Palestinians and the establishment of  Israeli settlements aim to end the opportunity to establish a Palestinian state, noting that Palestinian prisoners are subjected to the worst types of physical and psychological torture in the occupation detention centers.
In turn, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya , warned the Israeli occupation entity against the continuation of its military operations in  Gaza Strip.
“We demand that Israel put an end to its military operation in Rafah, and we also call for an immediate ceasefire ”he said.
Nebenzya added during a Security Council session: “During the ongoing Israeli operations in Gaza, more than 37,600 Palestinians were martyred , most of them women and children, and the statistics related to the West Bank are also horrific, as more than 600 Palestinians were martyred , while the construction of new Israeli settlements continues to be carried out accompanied  by displacing the Palestinian residents from their homes”.
The Un Russian Envoy pointed out that Resolution 2735, previously adopted by the UN Security Council, which includes a phased plan for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip, turned out to be a dead letter.
In this context , the United Nations envoy to the Middle East, Tor Wennesland, stressed the need to take urgent steps for an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons in Gaza Strip, pointing out that the continuation of the Israeli war in the Strip increases regional instability.
“Hunger and food insecurity continue in Gaza Strip, as all residents of Gaza face high levels of food insecurity, and nearly 500,000 people face a catastrophic situation” ,  Wennesland   pointed out in a briefing to the Security Council on Tuesday,  according to the Palestinian Wafa Agency.
He added  “The scale of killing and destruction in Gaza is horrific and devastating, and the weapons used by Israel in densely populated areas destroyed entire neighborhoods and damaged hospitals, schools, mosques and United Nations facilities, pointing out that the lives of 1.7 million displaced people in Gaza are at risk”.
The Israeli occupation continues its fascist aggression against the Gaza Strip despite the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately and the orders of the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah, take measures to prevent acts of genocide, and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
