Mouallem: Addressing Syrian Children Suffering Caused by Terrorists Recruitment, Rape, Trafficking Practices
DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Today ‘s meeting held between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem with Anthony Lake Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF focused on the multi-faceted progress attained between the Syrian government and UNICEF in providing assistance to the Syrian children in the areas of education, health and food.
Mouallem commended UNICEF’s efforts in Syria, pointing to the need to address causes behind the suffering of children, namely, practices of the terrorist groups in Syria in targeting schools and hospitals and recruitment and training of children to take up arms and practice acts of terrorism, and raping and trafficking them.
Lake thanked the Syrian government for its cooperation with UNICEF and reiterated keenness to continue to enhance support for the Syrian children in cooperation the Syrian government.
