Popular Commission for Liberation of Golan: Liberating Quneitra from the Israeli occupation a turning point in Syria’s history

The Popular Commission for the Liberation of Golan has stressed that the liberation of the Syrian city of Quneitra from the Israeli occupation and hoisting the Syrian flag in its sky has been a turning point in Syria’s history and a great achievement made thanks to the sacrifices of the homeland martyrs.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Commission said that on June 26th, 1974, the Syrian masses moved towards the liberated city of Quneitra to declare victory. On that day, the late leader and founder Hafez Al-Assad raised the Syrian Arab flag in the sky of the city announcing that victory is for the struggling peoples and that the Syrians are the owners of a just cause and a right that doesn’t have a statute of limitations.

The commission pointed out that this day formed a turning point in Syria’s modern history embodied by heroic deeds of the Syrian Arab army in the October Liberation War in 1973 and the war of attrition that followed and that led to the defeat of the Zionist enemy and its expulsion from Quneitra city and some of the lands occupied in 1967.

The commission went on to say that today, the Syrians are proudly recalling this anniversary, while they are continuing the struggle against terrorism and the American-Zionist schemes and against the Zionist enemy and its supporters in defense of Palestine, which represent the nation’s central cause, and in defense of every inch of the Arab lands.

As the late President Hafez Al-Assad raised the Syrian flag over the liberated city of Quneitra, President Bashar Al-Assad will raise the banner of victory over every part of the occupied land after liberation from terrorism and occupation to announce that people’s will can’t be defeated, the commission clarified.

It stressed that resistance is the only way to restore the occupied lands to their legitimate owners and that the Golan will entirely return to the homeland, as victory is inevitable thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian people and army.

The commission saluted the people in occupied Golan, hailing their national stances in confrontation of the occupation’s unfair decisions and arbitrary practices.
