Iravani: Dialogue and sincere cooperation are the only practical option to revive the nuclear agreement

New York, (ST) – Iran’s Ambassador and Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravan stressed that dialogue and sincere and constructive cooperation are the only practical option to revive the nuclear agreement.

Iravani said in a speech he delivered at a UN Security Council meeting devoted to the issue of nuclear non-proliferation and the implementation of UN Resolution 2231: “Pressure, intimidation, threats and confrontation are not effective solutions. The only practical option to revive the nuclear agreement is dialogue and constructive and sincere cooperation.”

Iravani pointed out that Iran’s principled policy is to reject nuclear weapons and a strong determination to use nuclear energy peacefully, and this policy has not changed, and Iran is firmly committed to dialogue and diplomacy.

Iravani pointed out that the international resolution No. 2231 on the nuclear agreement signed in 2015 has absolutely no relation to regional issues and Iranian space and missile programs, and Iran has never participated in any activity that violates the binding resolutions issued by the UN Security Council, indicating that the main threat to peace and security in our region is the aggression, occupation, expansionist policies and destabilizing crimes carried out by the Zionist entity.

Iravani continued: The extensive military presence, the American occupation and the extensive export of sophisticated weapons to our region over the past decades are a vivid example of the destructive and destabilizing American role in the region.

Iravani also clarified that the repeated American-British aggression on Yemen is unacceptable and is considered an unjustified provocation and a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen and a breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

He added that Iran condemns this aggression against Yemen in the strongest possible terms because it endangers peace and stability in the region and halts efforts aimed at a peaceful solution to the crisis in Yemen.

Iravani stressed that Iran’s principled policy towards the ongoing conflict in Ukraine will not change, rejecting all allegations of Iranian interference in transferring weapons for use in this conflict.
