Al-Hosn Castle in Homs celebrates International Yoga Day

“Citadel of The Cavaliers” (Qalaat al-Hosn) in Homs celebrated the 10th International Day of “Yoga for Universal Peace” with the participation of more than 200 people of different ages.
The celebration, organized by the Sports for All Federation and the Syrian Center for Yoga and Meditation in cooperation with the Indian Embassy in Damascus, included various yoga exercises in addition to sports dances performed by children from the town of Al-Mushrifa in Homs.
In a speech during the event, Secretary of the Homs Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Omar Houria referred to the strong friendly relations between Syria and India, pointing to the historical and archaeological status of the Al-Hosn Citadel and the symbolism of holding the celebration there as it is one of the historical and archaeological monuments that bear witness to the civilization of the Syrians and their love for peace.
In his speech, the Indian Consul in Damascus, Arvint Sharma, praised the efforts of those in charge of yoga in Syria, stressing continued cooperation to spread this sport on the largest scale as it is a spiritual sport that grants peace.
Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Yoga and Energy, Mazen Issa, pointed out that yoga is practiced in Syria through 76 centers for free, under the supervision of specialized trainers, and it is a sport that helps get rid of anxiety and tension through its physical techniques and spiritual meditations.
In turn, the Chairman of the Sports for All Federation, Thanaa Muhammad, pointed to the importance of holding the Yoga for Peace Festival, indicating that Syria’s participation since 2015 includes a message of peace from the people of Syria to the world, despite the devastation and destruction left behind by the terrorist war.
Head of the Technical Committee of the Sports for All Federation in Homs, Rabeh Hilouni, confirmed that yoga gives psychological and physical comfort and helps get rid of many diseases.
The yoga instructors, Mufida Ali and Shatha Mualla, from the Homs Yoga Team in the city of Al-Mushrifah, said that they came with 14 girls to participate in the celebration, as they have a great passion for practicing this sport, which helps to relax.
Samira Zaatari, from the Sports for All Yoga Team in Aleppo, participated with 22 people from Aleppo in the event held in the Homs Citadel, expressing her wishes to achieve and promote peace in the world through sports and cultural activities.
