Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics: More than 6 million people suffer from the harshness of refuge

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics confirmed that more than 6 million people suffer the harshness of refuge in Palestine and the diaspora, as a result of the Israeli occupation forcible displacement from their lands during the Nakba of 1948.
Wafa Agency quoted the Center as saying in a report on the occasion of World Refugee Day, which falls on June 20 of each year: “The records of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees UNRWA indicate that the number of Palestinian refugees registered with it reaches 5.9 million refugees, 2.5 million of them are in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the rest are distributed in diaspora countries.”
The Center indicated that Palestinian refugees are living in difficult social and economic conditions in Palestine and the diaspora, and these difficulties are exacerbated in the Gaza Strip in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinians since the seventh of last October, where unemployment rates jumped to unprecedented levels, reaching 75 percent in the last quarter of the last year, which means the loss of at least 200,000 jobs during the first three months of the aggression.
The Center stated that as a result of the continuous occupation bombing and the destruction of the infrastructure of a significant number of schools, the educational process in the Gaza Strip has been disrupted since the beginning of the aggression, and about 620,000 students have been deprived of their right to education.
