President Bashar al-Assad : Russia Re- balanced International Relations after Long Years of Unilateral Dominance

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ President Bashar al- Assad met today the Russia parliamentary delegation comprising MPs from several parties, headed by Alexei Vorontsov MP for the Russian Communist Party and chairman of the Syrian-Russian cooperation society.

President al-Assad stressed Russia’s vital and essential role in today’s world as it has re- balanced international relations after long years of unilateral dominance, expressing the Syrian people appreciation for Russia ‘s stances in support of Syria’s steadfastness.

President al-Assad stressed that the US and the West do not want to build genuine partnerships, rather affiliated countries, that are subject to their dictates, therefore work to destabilize the countries that do not agree with their policies.

Members of the Russian delegation talked about the historical relations between the two peoples of Syria and Russia and the common denominators that bring them together in the face of world imperialism and the struggle to maintain their two countries sovereignty and independence, stressing that the Russian people realized from the beginning that the war experienced against Syria, aimed at undermining its independent decision and its peoples’ culture and unity.

At the end of the meeting, members of the visiting delegation presented President Assad with a membership certificate in Peter the Great Academy of Sciences and invested him with the Academy medal, in recognition of his defense of the national interests of his people, his efforts in strengthening his country ‘s defense capabilities and his role in strengthening Syrian-Russian relations.
