Great international solidarity with Palestine as Israeli occupation continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip

NEW YORK, JUN.18, (ST)- The Israeli occupation entity failed to obtain membership in the Committee of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities (PWD) for the 2025/2028 session by not obtaining enough votes in the elections that took place a few days ago on the sidelines of the 17th  session held in New York.

The conference witnessed great international solidarity with Palestine in the light of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, as speeches by representatives of participating countries stressed the necessity of stopping the Israeli aggression and adhering to the terms of the agreement that call for the protection of PWD who are among the groups  affected by the war.

It is noteworthy that the main point in 17th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in New York focused on reviewing the inclusion of disability at the current international juncture and before the future summit.

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a legally binding agreement that entered into force on May 3, 2008, and 190 countries have joined it. It represents the basis for efforts aimed at promoting, protecting and ensuring the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights for all people.
