Jordan announces the death of 14 pilgrims and the loss of 17 others while performing Hajj rituals

Amman (ST) – The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today the death of 14 Jordanian citizens while performing Hajj rituals.

The Jordanian News Agency, Petra, quoted the Ministry’s Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs as saying in a statement that 14 people died while performing the Hajj, in addition to the loss of 17 others.

It noted that the Ministry and the Consulate General of Jordan in the city of Jeddah are following up with the competent Saudi authorities on the procedures for burying pilgrims and transporting the bodies of those whose families wish to transport them to the Kingdom as soon as possible, and are also following up on the search for the seventeen missing pilgrims.

The statement indicated that the deceased and missing pilgrims are from outside the official Jordanian Hajj delegation.

The Hajj season began the day before yesterday on the Day of Tarwiyah, and yesterday witnessed stopping at Arafat, the greatest pillar of Hajj, and spending the night in Muzdalifah, as the rituals continue for 6 days.
