BRICS Sports Games kick off in Kazan with Syria’s participation

The BRICS Sports Games were launched in the Russian city of Kazan on Wednesday with the participation of more than 3,000 athletes from 100 countries, including Syria.

The program of the Games, which will continue until the 24th of this month, includes 27 sports.

The competitions are scheduled to be held in 16 sports facilities in Kazan, and at the same time rock and roll and breaking competitions will be held in Moscow.

Participants in this tournament will compete for 387 sets of medals.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a welcome message to the participants via video during the opening ceremony of the tournament “this sports competition, which will bring together more than three thousand athletes from about a hundred countries around the world, “will clearly demonstrate the victory of the universal values ​​of sports, equal opportunities and just struggle” .

 

The Russian President pointed out that the sports games held under the auspices of the BRICS group constitute an important part of the comprehensive political, economic and humanitarian interaction, as the role of BRICS in global affairs is growing rapidly, stressing that the competition hosted by the cities of Kazan and Moscow fully reflects the spirit and character of the BRICS group, which is an alliance of sovereign countries that develop dynamically, maintain their identity, solve large-scale problems together, and set an example of true partnership and equal relations based on trust, strong friendship, tolerance and respect for each other’s interests.
