for the first time…..Syrian universities included in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking
The University of Damascus was included for the first time in in the British Times Higher Education World University Ranking, which is considered the most important educational and research classification in the world.
The Director of the University Classification Office, Dr. Marwan Al-Ra’i, said on Tuesday in a statement to SANA correspondent that this classification is divided into a number of parts, including the “Impact Ranking 2024” part through which Damascus university entered this classification .
He indicated that Damascus University was classified in the field of 1001-1500 out of about the best 2000 universities in the world which were included in this part of the classification.
Al-Ra’i pointed out that the University of Damascus, since the establishment of its classification office in mid-2023, has sought to enter this classification due to its accreditation by most European, Arab, and Asian ministries of education for the reliability of its graduate certificate.
He added that the university of Damascus managed to enter this classification within the “impact” part, which depends on more than 123 different sub-criteria, including standards related to the quality of the educational process, standards related to scientific research, and other standards related to gender equality.
Al-Ra’i pointed out that the International Private University for Science and Technology entered this classification alongside the University of Damascus, indicating that its entry was made through full cooperation with the University of Damascus Classification Office, out of Damascus University’s belief in the importance of all Syrian universities entering all international university classifications.
