Jordan hosts  international Conference on humanitarian response in Gaza

Today, Jordan is  hosting  an international Conference for the emergency humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip which has been subjected to continuous barbaric Israeli aggression since last October 7, which has left tens of thousands martyred and wounded.

Agence France-Presse reported that the conference is being held jointly organized by the United Nations, Jordan and Egypt.

The conference aims to identify ways to strengthen the international community’s response to the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement by the Jordanian Royal Court.

The Conference program distributed by the Jordanian ministry of  Foreign Affairs stated that during the morning session, “three working groups” will be held whose discussions will focus on ways to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza in a manner commensurate with the needs, ways to overcome the challenges facing the delivery of humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians, and early recovery priorities.

In the evening session, speeches will be delivered by King Abdullah II of Jordan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The conference will be attended by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator Martin Griffiths, in addition to leaders of countries, heads of government, and heads of international humanitarian and relief organizations.

Yesterday, World Food Program Director Cindy McCain renewed the call for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to allow the flow of aid from the Food Program and other organizations to Gaza on a large scale.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), through its spokesman Jonathan Fowler, warned that the destruction caused by the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip is very large, and that the reconstruction process will take more than 20 years.
