Attempts to silence the voices opposing the Israeli massacres in Gaza continue in American universities

Washington (ST) – At a time when protests continue demanding an end to the American support for Israel and an end to the genocidal war against the Palestinian people, the American authorities continue to take strict measures to silence the voices of those who oppose the Zionist entity. For example, a magazine affiliated with Columbia University was closed after publishing an article by a Palestinian human rights activist.

According to the British newspaper “The Guardian”, the closure of the website of “The Columbia Law Review” magazine came after the publication of an article by Palestinian human rights lawyer Rabei Ighbaria in which he proposed a new way of understanding Palestinian life under Israeli occupation.

The magazine’s board of directors, composed of faculty members and graduates from Columbia Law School, put pressure on the student editors who allowed the article to be published, and when they refused to yield to the pressure, the site was banned and closed completely.

In parallel with the measures to silence people, the US police continue to suppress demonstrators protesting against the Israeli war of annihilation in Gaza. These protests also continue, as thousands of demonstrators gathered in central Washington yesterday and surrounded the White House, demanding an end to the supply of American weapons to Israel and a ceasefire in Gaza.

Pro-Palestine protesters also filled the walls and memorials around the White House with drawings in support of the freedom of Palestine and against the Israeli war on Gaza, and demanded that Washington work to immediately stop the massacres.
