Foreign tourists impressed by archeological sites in Daraa

DARAA, JUN.1, (ST)-“When you are confused about history, you should search for it in the treasures of Bosra and its architectural monuments.”

With this sentence, the American thinker Stephen Andrew began his speech to  SANA reporter during his visit to Bosra Al-Sham, accompanied by a tourist group that included many intellectual and economic elites, retirees, and owners of tourism companies who came from several countries to see the city’s landmarks.

The thinker Andrew added: “We read about ancient civilizations and the extinction and destruction of their antiquities, but we found in Bosra the traces of beautiful coexistance that was embodied in the presence of Roman, Nabataean and Islamic antiquities, and that reflected the respect of each civilization for the previous ones. We found in the citadel the Roman theater surrounded by Islamic towers and Nabataean decorations.”

For her part, the American tourist,  Siman Vandia Sharma, expressed her extreme happiness at being in the  extremely beautiful and wonderful sites, and she considered this as a dream that came true since she lived in an international open-air museum without any significant obstacles, and she wished Syria continued prosperity and progress.

Orista Zub, an Ukrainian marketing employee, said: “What attracts you in the city’s buildings is the precision of the decorations on the column capitals, the unique, symmetrical construction, and the splendor of the architecture, which indicates the beautiful engineering progress of those civilizations.”

Olga Therslonka, a Swedish lawyer, called on international organizations concerned with heritage issues to provide all possible assistance to protect these beautiful treasures, pointing to the outstanding efforts made by Syrian public authorities in maintaining, rehabilitating and protecting  antiquities through the cleanliness of the sites and the deployment of workers there.

Olkasy, a Ukrainian doctor, said: “I was impressed with the castle’s height and the precision of its construction, but I lost my feelings inside it when I stood on its stage and we conducted a wonderful sound and echo experiment that takes you to an ancient world full of knowledge and creativity.”
