“ICJ’s decision must be respected,” says EU chief

BRUSSELS- European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called for implementation of the decisions of the International Court to stop the Israeli occupation’s aggression against the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

Wafa quoted Borrell  as saying, prior to the European Union foreign ministers meeting in Brussels on Monday, that the decisions of the International Criminal Court are very important for achieving justice.

He pointed out that saying that the International Criminal Court is anti-Semitic for issuing arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is illogical, as its ruling is very important for achieving the essence of justice in the United Nations.

Addressing the massacre committed by the occupation forces against the displaced people in Rafah last night, Borrell said that the killing of more than 30 displaced people in Rafah “prompts us to demand the necessity of implementing the decision of the International Court of Justice.”

Regarding the Rafah crossing, he indicated that he would propose reviving the European Union’s mission at the Rafah crossing, but this must be in coordination with the Palestinian Authority.

UN rights expert: Israeli shelling of displaced persons’ tents in Rafah is blatant challenge to international law

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, today said that the Israel’s shelling of displaced persons tents in Rafah is a blatant challenge to international law.

“The genocide in Gaza will not end without external pressure, and sanctions must be imposed on Israel and investments, agreements, trade, and partnerships with it must be suspended,” Albanese said in a post on X.

More than 40 civilians were killed and others were injured after the occupation forces targeted, with at least eight missiles, the tents of people sheltering in a displacement camp that was recently established near the warehouses of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), northwest of Rafah.

Last Friday, the International Court of Justice, the highest judicial body in the United Nations, ordered Israel, the occupying power, to immediately stop its military operations in the Rafah Governorate, and to maintain the opening of the Rafah crossing, to enable the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
