Patriarch John X lays the foundation stone foe a new school and archbishopric in Latakia

Patriarch John X Yazeji of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All The East laid the foundation stone for the construction of the new private national secondary school in Damsarkho neighborhood and the foundation stone for the construction of the new Archbishopric House in the Al-Awaina neighborhood in the city of Lattakia.

An inauguration Mass was also held for the rehabilitated and restored St. George Cathedral, with the participation of a group of bishops, priests and a crowd of citizens.

Patriarch John X stated to journalists that these church works indicate that the essence of our work touches the human being, his happiness, and his culture at all levels: spiritual, health, psychological, educational, and physical.

Engineer Michel Mahfoud explained that the new National Private Secondary School project, which is an expansion of the College School (National Private Secondary School) hosted by the city of Lattakia, is located on an area of six dunums and consists of a school for the primary stage and another for the preparatory and secondary levels.

Mahfoud added: The projects implemented by the Archdiocese do not limit their services to its citizens, expressing his hope that the project will achieve its desired goal of creating added value and serving the public interest.

The Governor of Latakia, Engineer Amer Hilal, the Secretary of the Latakia Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Engineer Haitham Ismail, the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Engineer Tayseer Habib, the Chairman of the Latakia City Council, Engineer Hussein Zingerli, and civil and community activities participated in the two foundation stone laying events.
