BAGHDAD-Syria and Iraq on Tuesday discussed ways of reactivating joint cooperation and backing regional and international efforts aiming to combat terrorism.
Discussions were made during a meeting between Syria’s Ambassador in Baghdad Sattam Jad’an al-Dandah and the Iraqi Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary for Bilateral Ties, Nizar al Kheirallah.
According to the an Iraqi Foreign Ministry statement, the two sides also talked on Iraq’s preparations to hold the forthcoming International Counter-Terrorism Conference due in Baghdad on March 12th. Methods of enhancing bilateral ties in all domains were also discussed.
The statement said that the Syrian Ambassador briefed the Iraqi diplomat on the latest developments in Syria and the region in general.
Arab, Muslim and western countries will take part in the conference which will seek to draw the world’s attention to the crimes committed by terrorists in Iraq, Syria and other parts of the region, the Iraqi media reported.
Participants in the conference will discuss issues relating to the process of arming, supporting and funding terrorist groups in addition to the training camps set in some countries to train the terrorists.
