Syria wins 8 medals in wrestling at the Arab championships

Our National Team for Free Wrestling for the Under-23 Category was awarded the second place in the free wrestling competition at the Arab Junior and Under-23 Categories Championship, which was launched yesterday  in the capital of Jordan, Amman, with the participation of 11 Arab countries.

Our national team won the second place after the coronation of our national team players with (8) medals (2 Gold – 2 silver – 4 bronze), while the Jordanian national team won the first place and the Algerian national team won the third place.

The gold medals were won by Omar Sarem in the 125 kg competition and Anas Sharfawi in the 97 kg competition.

The silver medals were won by Ibrahim Taba at 61 kg, and Majd Aisha at 71 kg.

The bronze medals were won by Khaled al-Rifai at 74 kg, Anas al-Khalidi at 79 kg, Omar al-Khalidi at 89 kg, and Ahmed al-Ahmed at 92 kg.

Our national team will complete its participation in the Championship on Friday as part of the Roman wrestling competitions for the Under-23 category, while the junior competitions will be held on Saturday.

It is noteworthy that the tournament is being held with the participation of 186 players representing the national teams of Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Palestine, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and Qatar.
