Syrian Arab Army Inching Closer to Tighten Grip on Terrorists’ Major Stronghold in Al-Qalamon Area

PROVINCES,(ST)_The army units are inching closer to tighten grip on foreign-backed terrorists in their major stronghold in al-Qalamo area outside Damascus province after two weeks of intense fighting.

Today, a military source told Alikhbaria Syria TV channel that a fierce fighting flared up in Rima farms and Flita town on the outskirts of Yabroud city in al-Qalamon area to tighten the grip on terrorists in the city.

It noted that the army units used strategic tactics to make progress in the ongoing yabroud battle. 

Many terrorists, some belonging to al-Nusra Front, were killed in Rima Farms and in Yabroud city as the army units targeted hideouts and weapons for terrorist groupings there, according to the official news agency.

The agency added that other terrorists from the so-called the ‘Islamic brigade’ and ‘al-Ansar brigade’ were eliminated in qualitative operations in farms of al-Mleha, al-Zamaneyeh and al-Bahhareyeh in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus and in Erbin, Duma and Adra areas outside Damascus.

Three car bombs

Around 70 km to the south-west of Damascus, precisely in Quneitra province, the army units foiled armed terrorist group’s attempt to explode 3 cab bombs at an army checkpoint on Sa’asa’a-Abu Qawoq road.

“The army units destroyed one of the car bombs and dismantled the other two cars,” a military source declared.

Army recaptures al-Deb hill

Meanwhile, the Syrian TV channel said that the army units imposed control over al-Deb hill to the south of al-Zara town outside Homs province after flushing out terrorists there.

The terrorists received other heavy blows in several flashpoint areas in southern Daraa province and northern Aleppo province when the army units wiped out many terrorists’ hideouts and groupings there.

Shells hit Idleb

In a separate development, at least a citizen was martyred and several others wounded when shells-fired by terrorists- hit many quarters in Idleb city.

Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.

The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
