Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns Washington’s keeping Cuba’s name on the US list of states sponsoring terrorism

Damascus (ST) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the US State Department’s announcement to keep the name of the Republic of Cuba on the US list of states sponsoring terrorism, and to remove it only from the list of countries that do not cooperate with US efforts to completely eliminate terrorism.

In a statement today, the Ministry renewed Syria’s full solidarity with the leadership, government and people of the Republic of Cuba, and its affirmation of full confidence that Cuba, which has been resisting the unjust and unfair American blockade for more than half a century, is capable of thwarting this American decision issued by the first regime that sponsors terrorism in the world.

The Ministry announced that Syria renews its rejection and condemnation of this American approach based on imposing sanctions on countries that do not follow the American lead and that defend their sovereignty, dignity and the interests of their people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that this approach is doomed to failure in the face of the will of free people, and will only lead to more tension and instability on the international scene.
