Syrian Arab Army Scores Strategic Gain in Yabroud Battle

PROVINCES,(ST)_A strategic gain has been scored by the army units in Yabroud battle outside Damascus province.

A military source declared today that the army units imposed full control over the strategic town of al-Sahl to the north of Yabroud area and over al-Aqabeh area in al-Qalamon Mountain in Damascus countryside.

Al-Sahl town is a strategic site because it is a frontline in Yabroud battle  leading to clamp down on terrorist groups in Yabroud area, according to media reports.

The reports confirmed that the army units had made progress in fighting terrorists in Rima farms to the east of Yabroud area and struck terrorist groupings in Ras al-Ein town and inside Yabroud.

Clashes in Darayya

Many terrorists were killed in the strikes which coincided with clashes between the army units and armed terrorist groups on several axes in Darayya city, around 11km to the south-west of Damascus.

The clashes ended in mowing down and shooting several terrorists and destroying 3 weapons-laden cars, according to the official news agency. 

Weapons confiscated on international highway

While on the International highway in al-Qotaifeh area, around 40km to the north-east of Damascus, the competent authorities seized a mini-bus carrying various types of weapons for terrorists.

A military source told the official agency that the terrorist, who was driving the mini-bus, was arrested.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the army units restored stability and security to Hwejet al-Mrii’yeh in Der Ezzour province in the wake of eliminating the last remaining terrorist groupings there.

Alikhbaria al-Soreyeh TV Channel said that the army units took control on Hwejet al-Mrii’yeh and clashed with terrorists in quarters of al-Hweqa, a-Reshdeyeh, al-Jbeleh and the old airport in the same province [Der Ezzour].

Foreign terrorists 

It pointed out that many terrorists were hit in the said areas and dozens of them were eliminated in the northern countryside of Lattakia and in al-Hesn town outside Talkalkh of Homs province.

Most of the terrorists who died in Lattakia countryside were of foreign nationalities, a military source said. 

In a further development, the army units thwarted infiltration bids by armed terrorist groups into the old city of Aleppo and pounded hideouts for terrorists in the industrial city, Bestan al-Qasr, Bni Zied, Hanano, al-Amereyeh, Salaheddin and on the surrounding the central prison.

Terrorists target civilians by shells

The province of Aleppo witnessed a terrorist attack as two shells- fired by terrorists- hit al-Khaedeyeh quarter killing two civilians, one of them is a 7-year old child.

Other 5 civilians were wounded when 2 shells landed in Bab Tuma quarter in the capital [Damascus].

A third shell hit al-Shagour quarter in Damascus leaving material damages to a house without casualties. 

Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.

The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
