A solidarity stand by Syrian and Palestinian youth and student organizations in Damascus marking 76th anniversary of the Nakba

Syrian and Palestinian youth and student organizations in Damascus held a solidarity stand with the steadfast Palestinian people in Gaza on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba. The event took place on Friday at Arnous Square in Damascus.

Participants in the stand chanted slogans expressing their solidarity with the people in the Gaza Strip and recited poems about occupied Palestine presented by the poet Maher Muhammad.

In a message to the steadfast Palestinian people, the participants pointed out that today’s stand in the heart of Damascus comes in support of the steadfastness of the people in the occupied Palestinian territories. This stand affirms the right of the Palestinian people to resist the Zionist occupation and stresses continuous campaigns to boycott all the plans and investments that support the economy of the Zionist entity.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Muhammad Agha, a member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, explained that the Palestinian Nakba anniversary comes while the Palestinian people are being subjected to a genocidal war, but they are still steadfast even after eight months of aggression thanks to the valiant resistance that humiliated the Zionist enemy in the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood.

Among the participants, Jaafar Khaddour, member of the Central Youth Committee of the Palestinian-Iranian Friendship Society, said that the goal of the protest is to keep the Palestinian issue alive in the minds and hearts of young people, and to confirm the connection of the Palestinian people to their land and roots.

Alaa Ali, Secretary of the Revolutionary Youth Union branch in Damascus, explained that this youth and student stand expresses the students’ solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, which is being subjected to aggression and the worst forms of killing and intimidation.
