The Russian and Chinese Presidents: Our countries’ relations are not directed against anyone 

On May 16th, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that relations between his country and China are not directed against any party and defend the principles of justice, law and democracy.

He pointed to the success of cooperation on various international platforms in the United Nations, the BRICS Group and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

“Moscow and Beijing have accumulated a great deal of practical cooperation, and China is Russia’s main partner in the trade and economic field, as trade between the two countries increased in 2023 by about a quarter, and reached a good number is $227 billion, ” TASS quoted Putin as saying during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Putin added that the fields of energy, industry, agriculture, high technologies, innovations, infrastructure construction and transportation are among the priorities for cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Chinese President considered that Russian-Chinese relations have become a standard for relations between major countries.

Jin Ping said: “This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. Over the past three-quarters of a century, Chinese-Russian relations have been consolidated under difficult circumstances. Today, these relations have become a standard for relations between major countries.”

He noted that he had met with Putin at least 40 times over the years, adding: “Such close relations allow us to identify strategic directions to maintain the dynamics of stable and rapid growth of Russian-Chinese relations, which is not achieved easily and therefore deserves very great care.”

The Chinese President stressed that the sustainable development of China-Russia relations not only meets the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples, but also benefits the cause of peace and prosperity in the region and around the world.

last night Russian President Vladimir Putin began a two-day state visit to China, his first since his re-election as president.
