Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) -The Palestinian people today at home and in the Diaspora commemorated the 76th anniversary of the Nakba under the slogan “Despite the genocide, we remain, and despite the displacement, we will return.”
The participants stressed that the anniversary this year comes at a time when the people in Gaza Strip are suffering unprecedented catastrophic conditions as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression for the 222nd day, in a scene that recalls the bloody massacres committed by Zionist gangs in Palestinian cities, villages and towns during the Nakba in 1948 and before it.
Wafa News Agency quoted the deputy head of the Fatah movement, Mahmoud Al-Alul, as saying: The crimes of the Zionist gangs claimed the lives of thousands of Palestinians and displaced about a million from their land to establish the usurping occupation entity on it.
He added that today, the occupation is committing a new Nakba that is much harsher than the Nakba of 1948, which is the war of extermination in Gaza Strip, in addition to the crimes of settler gangs in the West Bank.
In turn, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Ahmed Abu Holi called for implementing international legitimacy resolutions that support the rights of the Palestinian people.
He pointed out that targeting UNRWA is targeting the refugee issue, and that there is no alternative for this international institution except to return, and the countries that suspended their funding for it must review their stances.
Abu Holi called on the international community to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip, carry out reconstruction, and find a just solution to the Palestinian issue.
For his part, the Governor of Nablus, Ghassan Douglas said: 76 years have passed and the Palestinians have not forgotten their cause, their catastrophe, and the unjustness practiced against them, and despite the international silence in the face of the massacres committed by the occupation since 1948 until today and the war of extermination in Gaza.
In turn, the Governor of Tubas, Ahmed Al-Asaad, stressed that the Palestinian people, steadfast in their land, are determined to move forward towards achieving the goals for which thousands of their children were martyred. He indicated that Tubas commemorates the anniversary to tell the whole world that the old died, but the young have not and will not forget.
The Governor of Ariha (Jericho) Hussein Hamayel renewed the Palestinian people’s adherence to their rights and their confidence in the return of refugees to their homes from which they were displaced in 1948.
He denounced the ongoing war of extermination in Gaza Strip, where the occupation is committing massacres and practicing forced displacement in front of the world.
