7th International Informatics Olympiad for school teams concluded…Syria ranked third

The 7th session of the International Informatics Olympiad competitions for school teams for 2024 season concluded yesterday evening in Damascus. The event was hosted by Syria for the first time over a period of three days through the administration of the Syrian Science Olympiad in the Distinction and Creativity Agency.

According to the results announced by the Distinction and Creativity Agency, Hungary ranked first with its team winning a gold medal, while Romania came in second place with two of its teams winning two silver medals. The third place went to Romania, Syria, and Italy, and each of them won 3 bronze medals.

Regarding honorary medals, Bulgaria and Iran each received two honorable gold medals, while Pakistan received an honorable bronze medal.

Dr. Ammar Al-Nahhas, the national coordinator of this Olympiad, said in a video speech: We were pleased to host the seventh edition of the International Informatics Olympiad for teams in Syria, where it went smoothly.

Al-Nahhas expressed thanked members of the International Scientific Committee for their contribution in preparing the questions, the members of the International Organizational Committee, the heads of the teams, and the members of the Syrian organizational and scientific committees.

The competitions of this Olympiad were launched “remotely” on the 10th of this month with the participation of 20 school teams from ten Arab and foreign countries: Romania, Italy, Hungary, and Egypt, while Iran, Slovakia, Pakistan, Bulgaria, and Armenia participated as guests.
