Norwegian singer withdrew from  Eurovision race ,in protest against the crimes of the occupation in Gaza

Stockholm-(ST)-  Norwegian singer Alessandra Mele announced her withdrawal from her country’s organizing team in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, in protest against the Israeli genocidal crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The aforementioned singer said in a video clip on her accounts that the withdrawal was because of Israel’s crimes against Palestinians.

She added in the video: “Freedom for Palestine. Please open your eyes and open your hearts.”

Alessandra Meli was scheduled to distribute points on behalf of Norway during the final competition of the race.

In the same context, the Swedish police removed hundreds of demonstrators in solidarity with the Palestinians from around the “Malmo Arena” theater in southern Sweden which is witnessing the final ceremony of the competition.

Agence France-Presse reported that more than a hundred demonstrators, some of whom wrapped keffiyehs around their faces, chanted “Free Palestine.”

As a part of solidarity steps, the unions of the public television channel “VRT” in the Belgian region of Flanders cut off the broadcast of the competition for a short period because of the human rights violations committed by “Israel” against Palestinians.
