Syria will host International Informatics Olympiad in school teams for the first time

For the first time, Syria is hosting the International Informatics Olympiad in School Teams in its seventh session of the 2024 season, the competitions of which begin today and last three days.
The Distinction and Creativity Agency noted in a statement that twenty school teams are participating in this “remote” Olympiad from 10 countries, including (Syria, Italy, Hungary, Romania, and Egypt) from the member states, and (Armenia, Bulgaria, Pakistan, Slovakia, and Iran) as guests.
The Agency pointed out that the Informatics Olympiad in Teams includes several stages, starting with school teams applying to programming competitions and ending with qualifying for the national finals. The first-place winning teams will represent their countries in the international competition.
Member states are entitled to participate with 3 teams, while countries participating as guests are entitled to participate with only one team.  Being the host country of the competition, Syria is entitled to participate with 5 teams who occupied first places in the first final qualifying stage.
The International Informatics Olympiad in Teams is the most important youth scientific competition in the world for school students since its launch in 2017.  Syria’s participation in it began in 2022, and it quickly achieved remarkable attendance and gained international confidence in attendance and organization through the management of the Science Olympiad in the Distinction and Creativity Agency.
