General Corporation for Drinking Water in Hasakah begins digging wells to support the city’s water desalination plants

Hasakah, (ST) -The General Corporation for Drinking Water in Hasakah, in cooperation with the local community, began digging wells near a number of water desalination plants installed in the center of the city of Hasakah.

The Director General of the Corporation, Eng. Muhammad Al-Othman, stated in a statement to SANA that three wells are scheduled to be drilled to support the wells of the desalination plants located in the city of Hasakah, with the initiative and support of the local community, to ensure the continued operation and continuity of the plants, especially with the advent of the summer season.

According to Al-Othman, digging a well next to the Al-Balabil desalination station has begun to restart it and put it into service after the station’s well dried up.

He added that as a result of the Turkish occupier continuous cutting off drinking water and stop pumping from the Alouk station, the only source of drinking water for the city, the directorate took measures to ensure the continued provision of potable water from during maintenance of all 16 desalination plants in the city center.

Al-Othman pointed out that a specific rationing program has been adopted for the operation of desalination plants, specifying daily operating hours and announcing their dates.

He stressed the continuation of government’s efforts in cooperation with international and relief organizations to transport water from the corporation’s stations, specifically from the Nafasha station east of Hasakah, via tankers and filling tanks scattered in the streets and communities population to alleviate the suffering of the people, and to secure a portion of their water needs.

The Water Corporation had carried out maintenance and repair of a number of wells and returned them to service in the Darbasiyah Water Unit and the Hilaliya station in the city of Qamishli in cooperation with the Spanish Anti-Hunger Organization.
