President Al-Assad participates in the expanded meeting of the Central Committee of the Baath Arab Socialist Party

Damascus, (ST) -President Bashar Al-Assad, Secretary-General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, participated in the expanded meeting of the party’s Central Committee held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at the Conferences Palace in Damascus.

The meeting’s agenda included electing members of a central committee and a new central leadership for the party.

During the meeting, President Al-Assad was  unanimously elected as Secretary General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party.

In a speech, President Al-Assad focused on political, economic and social topics, as well as on issues related to the Baath Party, its organizational structure, and its role in policy-making.

President Al-Assad affirmed that the most dangerous things facing the nation are the ideological wars, such as neo-Nazism, neo-liberalism and religious extremism, pointing out that these ideological wars can’t be confronted except through thought and belief.

He also said that ideological parties have become much more important than before in the light of the current global circumstances in the entire world which is witnessing cultural and ideological wars.

The role of ideological parties, foremost of which is the Baath Party in Syria, is more important today than it was during all the stages that Syria went through, the president pointed out.

“For us, Socialism means social justice, and today we must determine what type of socialism that suits us to achieve this goal, to confront the current circumstances we are going through, to move forward, and achieve a breakthrough in the domains that we consider priorities, especially in the economic field,” President Al-Assad went on to say.

He asserted that Syria will provide utmost support for the Palestinian people and for every resistance movement against the Zionist entity without hesitation, noting that Syria’s stance on resistance, both as concept and practice, never changes, rather, it is perpetuated.

President Al-Assad indicated that the Baath Party faces several challenges, including how to build the Party’s institution, how to form the party’s vision on internal issues and the state’s duty towards citizens, mainly their living condition and how to reformulate the party’s thought in a way that is consistent with the current stage but does not contradict national belonging.

Concerning the political situation, President Al-Assad said that the most important and urgent issue today is Palestine and the return of the Palestinian issue to the forefront in a way that has never been done before.

“Today the justness of this cause has become clearer to the entire world and the truth about the criminal Zionist entity has been revealed and the global support that “Israel” has enjoyed has been declined at the world level,” the president clarified.

President Al-Assad made it clear that what is the most important for Syria is that the war on Gaza has exposed the traitors, both in the Arab world and in Syria, who sought imitating the West’s false democracy, values and civilization and who didn’t do anything or say a word about the West’s stance on the war on Gaza and the West’s political and military support for “Israel”.

Those traitors, who falsely called themselves revolutionaries, didn’t go to the US Congress to call for an accountability act against Israel, but they had gone to the Congress to call for an accountability act against Syria, he clarified.

He reiterated Syria’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and for resistance until the legitimate rights of the Palestinian and Syrian peoples are restored.

“As long as the situation remains unchanged and rights are not restored to the Palestinians or Syrians, nothing will alter our stance even by a hair’s breadth. Everything we can offer to the Palestinians and any resistance against the Zionist entity, we will do without hesitation, and our position regarding resistance will grow stronger,” the President made it clear.
