PROVINCES,(ST)_At least 175 terrorists have been killed in an ambush in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus amid reports of seizing 300.000 Captagon pills and wiping out terrorists’ hideouts and weapons in Aleppo and Lattakia provinces.
On Wedenesday, a military source told reporters that an army unit had ambushed terrorists affiliated to al-Nusra Front and the so-called the ‘Islamic brigade’ near al-Etaibeh pond in the eastern Ghouta outside Damascus province and mowed down 175 of them and wounded others.
“According to intelligence information, the army unit laid an ambush waiting for the terrorists who were moving on the axis of al-Nashabeyeh- Med’a-Industrial Adra-al Dmeir-Bear alQasab –Jordan,” the source said, stressing that terrorists of Saudi, Qatari and Chechen nationalities were among those who died in the ambush.
It made it clear that the terrorists were trying to diminish the pressure being imposed on their bandits in the eastern Ghouta and in al-Qalamon area outside Damascus.
Clashes
In a further development, another army unit clashed with an armed terrorist group in Talfita farms in al-Qalamon area and seized a car containing 300.000 Captagon pills.
Another clash raged between an army unit and an armed terrorist group in quarters of al-Reshdeyeh and al-Hweqa in Der Ezzour province.
A qualitative operation was carried out against a hideout of an armed terrorist group from ‘al-Abbas’ battalion in ‘al-Takaia’ Street in the same province [Der Ezzour] where at least 21 terrorists were killed, according to the official news agency.
The agency confirmed the continuation of military operations against terrorist groupings in areas of Yabroud, Adra, Jobar, Darayya, Erbin and Zamalka in Damascus countryside and in several towns and quarters in northern Aleppo province.
The operations resulted in eliminating dozens of terrorists and pounding many hideouts.
Arms depots destroyed
More terrorists were reportedly killed in operations in the northern countryside of Lattakia, precisely in towns of al-Shahrora, al-Rawda, Zahyeh, al-Soda, Delbeh, Dorin and Maj Khokha.
Two ringleaders for ‘Ahrar al-Sham’ battalion and ‘Hettin’ battalion plus terrorists of Saudi, Iraqi, Tunisian and Libyan nationalities were among the dead in the operations, a military source said.
It added that the army units destroyed hideouts and two arms depots containing booby-traps and missiles for al-Nusra Front-linked terrorists in the said areas.
Terrorists shoot dead reconciliation member
In a separate incident, it was said that terrorists assassinated head teacher of a Secondary school in al-Tal area, Mr.Suleiman Sal’os, who is also a member of the national reconciliation committee in Harasta outside Damascus.
They opened fire on him while he was in the school, a police command source said.
Last Friday, the terrorists assassinated head of the national reconciliation committee in Moaddameyet al-Qalamon town.
Syria is fighting terrorism exported from around 83 countries.
The US, France, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar sponsor the terrorist groups operating in Syria, world media reports say.
