The Palestinian presidency welcomes Colombia’s decision to sever relations with the Israeli occupation entity

The Palestinian presidency welcomed the decision of Colombian President Gustavo Petro to sever his country’s diplomatic relations with the Israeli occupation entity, due to the ongoing genocidal war in the Gaza Strip

Wafa Agency quoted the Presidency as saying in a statement today: We value what was stated in President Petro’s speech, during which he stressed that killing the Palestinian people means killing humanity, and the fact that Palestine today embodies the absence of international humanitarian law, the disruption of international legitimacy by force of arms, and his emphasis on the need for the countries of the world to stand up to fulfill their responsibilities and reject what is happening to humanity, as a result of what the Palestinian people are exposed to.

The Palestinian Presidency indicated that these noble positions taken by the government and people of Colombia constitute an example for the world to follow, to bind the Israeli occupation to the resolutions of international legitimacy in compliance with international law, stressing that the occupying authority cannot continue genocide against the Palestinian people and its gross violations of international law and legitimacy without being held accountable.

The Presidency renewed its call on the international community to take more decisive stances regarding the crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people, not to allow the Israeli occupation entity to continue in its crimes and violations, and to oblige Israel to implement the international principles and obligations imposed on the Zionist entity under international law and international humanitarian law.

Yesterday, the Colombian President announced the severing of diplomatic relations with the Israeli occupation entity, due to the Israeli perpetration of genocide in Gaza Strip. He demanded joining South Africa’s lawsuit in the International Court of Justice regarding the occupation entity committing genocide in Gaza.
