American police storm into the Columbia University and arrest pro-Palestinian students

Washington, (ST) – New York City police stormed Columbia University, which is witnessing pro-Palestinian protests, and arrested many students participating in a sit-in that the university has been witnessing for days, in protest against the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.

CNN reported that New York City police officers gathered in the streets outside the Columbia University campus and began issuing orders to students to evacuate the campus before they stormed into the place and assaulted some of the participants.

CNN indicated that police officers stormed intoHamilton Hall, which is considered one of the main buildings at the university, where a number of students were staging a sit-in. They forcefully evacuated demonstrators and journalists, and arrested a number of them after handcuffing them.

A police spokesman acknowledged the use of explosive ordnance when storming the Columbia University campus. He said that this operation was carried out at the request of the university administration.

Columbia University was the main point of student protests that spread to dozens of colleges across the United States. They expressed their rejection of the ongoing brutal Israeli aggression on Gaza and the American policy supporting this aggression.

Yesterday, Columbia University officials threatened to expel students who had staged a sit-in in an academic building, as the confrontation intensified between administrators and pro-Palestinian activists on the campus of the university located in New York City.
