With the participation of Syria, the work of the fifty-seventh session of the Committee on Population and Development at the United Nations kicks off

New York, (ST) – With the participation of Syria, the fifty-seventh session of the Commission on Population and Development was held yesterday at the United Nations headquarters in New York, under the title “Assessing the status of implementation of the Program of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and its contribution to the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development during a decade of work and implementation for sustainable development.”

Eng. Samar Al-Sibai, Head of the Syrian Authority for Family and Population Affairs, headed the Syrian delegation participating in the session.

Eng. Al-Sibai also accepted  the invitation extended to her by Ambassador Naomi Madrid, Chair of the Population and Development Committee, to participate in a high-level interactive panel discussion on the main outcomes and recommendations of the regional conferences on population and development held in 2023, including the Arab Regional Conference on Population and Development, in which Syria participated. She was asked to be a speaker about the Arab region.
